Unless Barak get’s way out of hand with socialism, I’m done. Politics is upsetting. Technology is uplifting. I wanna live in a world that is uplifting.

Time to Retire?

I started this blog saying, “I’m all in for Sarah.” I’ve avoided politics for most of my adult life because I think it’s a waste of time. Sarah Palin is one of the only political figures in my life that spoke to what I believe about individual liberty and responsibility. I supported her for vice-president and I want her to be president.

The moderate waste of space at the top of the republican ticket lost. He deserved to loose. In the South, we like librals and libertarians because the “only thing you find in the middle of the road is a yellow streak and a dead armadillo.”

Now I have to decide if a shutter this blog and start to ignore D.C. again or I continue the fight for President Sarah. I want to choose the first option but I don’t want to make anyone who disagrees happy by giving up.

Proud to be an American

I opposed Barack Obama 100%, but I’m very proud that he was elected.

I grew up in South Arkansas and as a teenager I went to one of only a couple integrated churches. I don’t agree with Barack’s ideas or plans for America, but his election proves everything I love about our country. Race isn’t what keeps people down, it’s a lack of focus and determination. President-Elect Obama proved that.

I’ll fight against his desire to re-distribut the wealth, but I’ll always be proud that I live in a country that has taken a step beyond racism.

UPDATE: I was spelling President-Elect Obama’s first name wrong so I fixed it. Now Wordpress, Google and all the other spell-checkers need to fix it too. ;)

If Obama Wins …

I’m posting this at about 5PM Central. I’m confident that McCain will win, but if he doesn’t?

I don’t like Barak Obama. I don’t respect him and don’t see that changing. Apart from ideology I don’t like him because he doesn’t seem to have joy in his heart. That he offers people hope is mind boggling to me because his words only rob me of hope.

Here’s what I hope, though, if he wins. I hope I’m wrong about him. I hope he isn’t the radical leftist I fear. I hope he doesn’t weaken our military.

More than anything else? I hope the people who believe electing a person of color will bring healing to the soul of America are right. I hope Americans who haven’t felt as American as I have my whole life can begin to feel it. I hope every little boy and every little girl sees the opportunity to one day be president. I hope we can all start to get along even when we disagree.

Elaine Lafferty on Sarah Palin

Elaine Lafferty is the former editor in chief of Ms. magazine. She’s a pro-choice Democrat who has had the opportunity to travel on the plane with Sarah Palin and she testifies to what I already know. Sarah Palin is no George W. Bush. She isn’t an intellectual light-weight. Why disagreeing with Sarah on abortion (like I do), she says Sarah is a “Brainiac.”

“Now by ’smart,’ I don’t refer to a person who is wily or calculating or nimble in the way of certain talented athletes who we admire but suspect don’t really have serious brains in their skulls. I mean, instead, a mind that is thoughtful, curious, with a discernable pattern of associative thinking and insight. Palin asks questions, and probes linkages and logic that bring to mind a quirky law professor I once had. Palin is more than a ‘quick study’; I’d heard rumors around the campaign of her photographic memory and, frankly, I watched it in action. She sees. She processes. She questions, and only then, she acts. What is often called her ‘confidence’ is actually a rarity in national politics: I saw a woman who knows exactly who she is.”

Of course, we know the elitist who are working so hard to destroy her don’t really think Sarah is an empty dress. If she were Dan Quayle or George W., they wouldn’t be worried at all. It’s pretty clear they’re scared of her because she has so much in common with the great one, Ronald Reagan.

Again Ms. Lafferty is a Democrat who has spent time observing Palin in both public and private and she says, “She is not a right-wing nut, and all the rest of the Internet drivel—the book banning at the Library, the rape kits decision – is nonsense.”

In His Own Words

Un-edited, this is what Obama said:

“You know if you look at the victories and the failures of the Civil Rights movement and its litigation strategy in the Court, I think where it succeeded was to invest formal rights in previously dispossessed peoples so that I would now have the right to vote, I would now be able to sit at the lunch counter and order as long as I could pay for it I would be okay.

But the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth and sort of more basic issues of political and economic justice in this society. And to that extent as radical as I think people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical, it didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution, at least as its been interpreted and the Warren Court interpreted it in the same way that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties says what the states can’t do to you, says what the federal government can’t do to you, but it doesn’t say what the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf and that hasn’t shifted.

And one of the I think the tragedies of the Civil Rights movement was because the Civil Rights movement became so court focused I think that there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change and in some ways we still suffer from that.”

Why Socialism is Evil

Before I get into this, I just want to say whether you’re on the left, right or all mixed up with some of both like me, blog about it! It helps!

It’s a great way to blow off political steam and it really doesn’t matter if people read it or not. I used to yell at the TV. Now I just write a post and move on with real life. It’s fun to stand on this virtual porch and yell at the socialists to get off my lawn and it doesn’t matter to me one bit if anyone ever reads a word I write.

Now, why socialism is evil…

Socialism is meant to be fair. It is meant to bring economic equality to everyone. In socialism, everyone should have an adequate income, access to health care and access to education. None of that sounds bad. I want everyone in the world to have an adequate income, access to health care and access to education. Who doesn’t?

Here’s the problem: Socialism isn’t voluntary. In socialism, government takes money by force to distribute it in the way government thinks is best. I don’t get to choose to opt out. If I don’t pay my taxes, government will punish me. That makes it evil because it restricts freedom and opportunity.

Whenever government runs something, it creates a layer of artificiality called bureaucracy that is expensive. The place we see it most clearly in the U.S. is in our public school system. Public school administration is expensive and bloated and does nothing to enhance the education of students. Exceptional teachers inspire good students regardless of resources. The really exceptional ones get movies made about them because of the degree to which they transform their students’ lives.

In Texas, if I buy a home or land, I have to pay taxes on the real estate. Some of that money goes to paying for police, fire and public parks. I like having those services so I don’t mind those taxes. Most of the money, though, goes to the local school system. I don’t have children, and if I did, I would homeschool them so I don’t need a local school system. I don’t get to opt out, though. If I try to not pay those taxes, I would be punished. So the system intended to be socially fair by spreading the cost of the school system to all real-estate owners, in my case is suddenly unfair. That’s socialism in action. Education is good. Administration is expensive. Everyone is forced to pay for it whether they use it or not.

Sarah put it this way in a speech she made in Iowa yesterday:

“See, under a big government agenda, what you thought was yours, your income, your property, your inventory, your investments, really would belong to somebody else, to everybody else. And it would be shared with everybody else. That philosophy of government taking more, which is a misuse of the power to tax. It leads to government moving into the role of taking care of you and government and politicians and kind of moving in as the other half of your family to make decisions for you. Now they do this in other countries where the people are not free.”

If you’re struggling financially and can’t figure out how to breakthrough to financial victory, Obama’s message has some sway, but it doesn’t make it right and it doesn’t really help you do much more than survive. The really scary part happens when you do breakthrough to financial victory. After all the hard work, long hours and little sleep, Obama says he wants to cap your potential and spread your wealth around. But that’s what I want to do! I want to hire people and grow my business. Obama’s plan limits my ability and my incentive to do that because he thinks government will help you more than I will.

Instead, the only people who will really be helped by Obama’s plan are the people who are added to the government’s payroll.

No one is ever strengthened when the weight is lifted for them. I can lift weights on your behalf all day long and it won’t help you one bit. You have to start lifting your own weights. You have to start your own business. You have to take care of your own health care. That’s the only way you’ll ever be strong.

Again, the thing that makes it evil is that it isn’t possible to opt out. Compliance is insured by force because it has to be. People yearn to be free. Socialism limits freedom, limits opportunity and limits hope. It’ll be change alright, but not the kind of change most people are hoping for.

Once Again … It’s McCain by a Landslide

I predicted it before. I stand by my prediction. John McCain will win by a landslide. The polls are dead wrong.

I don’t know who Steven M. Warshawsky is but he wrote a piece for AmericanThinker.com called, “Signs Pointing to a McCain Victory.”

No doubt the antique media is in the tank for Obama the Comma, but the enthusism being reported isn’t that evident when you drive around. I spent the last two-and-a-half weeks on a road trip through mostly blue states. I saw very, very few signs and bumper stickers promoting Obama the Comma. I saw quite a few supporting McCain.

Obama has been reported to be a member of the Socialist Party. That may or may not be true. His words suggest he is at the very least sympathetic to socialism. Spreading the wealth around is one hint. He also gave a speech in the past week where he complained about Republican’s calling him “socialistic.” Sensitive much, Senator Obama? No Republican has called you “socialistic.” We’re calling you a stupid socialist.

Senator Obama, you can pity me all you want and say I’m a bitter American who clings to guns and religion and all that proves is that you don’t know what makes real Americans tick. We love this country. We believe our founding fathers did something excellent and exceptional when they declared a few truths to be self-evident. God gave us the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We believe in helping needy people because we’re blessed. We don’t believe in being forced to help because help via government isn’t a kind of help God blesses because it doesn’t come from the heart.

McCain is going to wind because of Sarah Palin and because Obama is a socialist who is unworthy of the office of the presidency.

You Go Girl!

There is currently a report on CNN’s politicalticker that suggests that Sarah is “going rogue” and “busting free” of McCain’s inept, compromise-loving campaign. Sarah believes in liberty and any chance McCain has at a victory is due to how much we love and appreciate her Reagan-like message. Individual liberty is what makes this nation great–not government gone socialist.

I’m voting for Sarah and McCain benefits, but I have only about twice as much respect for McCain as I have for Obama. I have quite a bit less than zero respect for Obama.

Sarah is the only real Reaganista in this campaign and she will be our first woman president because people love her. Every where I go, I hear real people in restaurants, stores and Starbucks talking about her. I wore a Palin Power shirt in public yesterday and it was like I was a celebrity. People approached me and they wanted to know where I got it.

Lots of media types who have made a fancy living calling themselves conservative are now demonstrating they’re past was a charade so they could make a nice living. They mistakingly see the tide turning because they live in NYC or DC. They’re jerking off to Obamania and have lost any respect they may have had. It’s kind of fun to watch. It’s a situation where the real libertarians are standing up and the phony conservatives are bending over in an effort to maintain their elite status in the new United Socialist States of America. People who value power over principals are worthless and it’s good to see which ones have been faking it.

Ariana Huffington is way ahead of her time. When it was valuable to be a conservative, she was a conservative. There came a point where she stopped seeing an economic reason to argue conservatism and she went the other way. Now lots of people are following in her footsteps.

If the majority of Americans fall for Obama’s lies, or even worse, embrace his socialist delusions, the phony conservatives who jumped ship will get to continue to live fat and happy lives. I don’t think it’s going to happen though. I don’t buy into the idea of an America filled with people ready to give up capitalism and the American dream because some punk from Kenya wants them too.

Obama wants to spread the wealth around…not his wealth…ours. The thing that happens when you spread anything around is that it looses its substance. Obama doesn’t know that because he has no substance. All he has is hatred for the country that gave him success.

I’m glad Sarah is fighting for liberty even as McCain fights the people who want to vote for him. Sarah is the next Ronnie and unless she screws it up by limiting liberty, I want her to be president.
